The STEM Ed PaCER program is a collaboration between Michigan State University (MSU), the Center for Native Peoples and the Environment at the State University of New York’s Environmental Science and Forestry (SUNY ESF) campus, and the Sustainable Development Institute of the College of Menominee Nation (CMN). This collaboration will build a diverse cohort of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) Education Postdoctoral Research Fellows (n=6) who will train and work on Participatory and Community-Engaged Research in the context of STEM education.
We hired six research associates (postdoctoral fellows) to collaborate with STEM+ education and community-engaged and participatory research. The cohort receives interdisciplinary education research and community-engagement training through multiple training, experiential, and mentoring opportunities. The cohort also receives training in mentoring and leadership, and is expected to develop strong mentorship and collaborative ties with other members of STEM Ed PaCER. A key objective of STEM Ed PaCER is the training and professional development of a diverse group of postdocs, giving special attention to scholars with experience, both lived and academic, in or with Indigenous/Native/First Nations communities, to foster socially conscious, community-engaged, and equity-focused leaders in STEM+ education research.
